Blackmon Mooring was established in 1948 by two friends Bill Blackmon and Scott Mooring. The new company was named Blackmon Mooring, and the service offered was furniture cleaning. The tiny business didn’t stay that way for long, and Blackmon Mooring quickly added a number of other services to their portfolio. Behind each new service that made it to the list was Bill and Scott’s commitment to high technical competence, prompt attention and friendly customer service that would become the standards for the industry. In 1949, the Blackmons suffered a personal disaster. The flooding Trinity River broke the levees and raged across town, including the Blackmon home. There was intensive destruction, and the flooding waters damaged most of the furniture. With a lack of comprehensive disaster recovery services at the time, it was now up to the Blackmon Mooring crew to step up, and clean the wet furniture and furnishings. This was the company’s first step into the disaster recovery field, and before long, Blackmon Mooring began to offer full fledged fire and smoke damage restoration services too. The Blackmon’s personal flood experience had given their services a compassionate touch that would have been missing had they only approached disaster recovery as a business. Today, this personal touch covers all aspects of their other services, including smoke remediation services.

I would like to schedule an assessment and cleaning estimate for a unit in a fourplex that I own. The tenants that vacated the unit were heavy smokers. The property manager had the unit professionally cleaned, new carpet installed, and new paint on the walls, ceilings, and trim. However, the cigarette smell is still noticeable. The painter did not wash the walls or ceilings before painting and did not apply any primer. We used a chlorine dioxide fogger which reduced the smell. Thanks.
